OP-18 Release: Date, contents and pre-order — everything you need to know
Deutsche Version dieses Artikels: OP-18 Release: Datum, Inhalt und Vorbestellung
Summary: OP-18 "The Dominance of God" (Japanese 神の支配) is the eighteenth main booster of the One Piece Card Game. Bandai has announced the set for November 2026, while distributors list 20 November. The Japanese and English versions will be released simultaneously. The set was revealed on 23 August 2026.
When is OP-18 being released?
Bandai's official Japanese release calendar lists OP-18 as "November 2026" without specifying a day. Distributors and pre-order pages consistently list 20 November 2026 for the English version and 20/21 November for the Japanese version.
Important context: distributor dates come from Bandai, but they are not a press release. They have occasionally been postponed in the past. Until Bandai officially confirms a date, November 2026 is certain and 20 November is very likely.
What kind of set is OP-18?
OP-18 is a large set. Bandai describes it as a booster featuring three established themes plus one completely new theme. At its centre is a long-awaited character who will appear as a Leader for the first time and who, according to Bandai, is set to change the game environment. Community leaks name Franky, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Contents of a Japanese booster box:
- 24 booster packs with 6 cards each
- 126+1 card types
- Leader 6 · Common 45 · Uncommon 30 · Rare 26 · Super Rare 10 · Secret Rare 2 · Special Card 6 · Treasure Rare 1 · DON!! card 1
- additional cards with alternate artwork and parallel designs
Information according to Bandai, subject to change.
Pre-ordering the Japanese version — what to look out for
Three points make the difference when buying a Japanese booster box:
1. The time advantage is gone. Since OP-17, the Japanese and English versions have been released on the same day. You now buy Japanese products for the card quality, artwork and collector value — not for a lead of several months.
2. Japanese cards are not tournament-legal in Europe. Bandai allows only English and French cards for Leaders and main decks in Europe. Japanese cards here are for collecting and opening. Only DON!! cards can be played in any language.
3. The price falls after release, not before. That is how the game is structured: demand for a set is at its highest during the pre-order window and then eases off. With OP-16, the drop after release was clearly in the double-digit percentage range. If you want to be sure of getting a booster box, pre-order; if you are focused on the price, wait two to four weeks after release.
OP-18 in context: the calendar through spring 2027
- October 2026: EB-05 Extra Booster "ONE PIECE Heroines Edition Vol.2"
- November 2026: OP-18 "The Dominance of God"
- December 2026: Starter Decks ST-37 and ST-38
- March 2027: OP-19
Bandai explicitly points out that OP-18 can be combined with Starter Decks ST-37 and ST-38 from December — new players should be able to start out competitively right away.
Frequently asked questions
How many cards are in a Japanese OP-18 booster?
Six cards per pack, 24 packs per booster box. The English version has twelve cards per pack.
Is OP-18 released earlier in Japan?
No. Since OP-17, the release has been worldwide and simultaneous.
How many booster boxes are in a case?
Twelve.
Can I play Japanese OP-18 cards in a Swiss tournament?
No. According to Bandai, only English and French cards are allowed in Europe, with the exception of DON!! cards.
Is it worth pre-ordering?
If you want to be sure of getting the set: yes, because the initial supply is limited. If you are optimising for price: probably not, because sets typically become cheaper after release.
